I have a rooftop deck with a fire pit, outdoor TV and hot tub, plus views of the nearby mountains and downtown Nashville. I love to entertain family and friends on my Wicker 7-Seat U Sectional on the roof. We have so much fun snuggling by the fire, watching football on the TV, grilling burgers and taking a dip in the hot tub.

We have several family dinners outside in our outdoor eating area under the pergola. And our gas fire pit is the place for after-dinner s’mores on our Aluminum 5-Piece Corner Sectional! We love lounging on the sofa after the kids are asleep with the fire pit for wine and bourbon hangs with friends. We also leveled our yard and got new grass, so it's a great area for the boys to run and play (new playground coming soon!). Marisa works for an ethical fashion brand and Jeff is a songwriter and producer. We've lived in our east Nashville neighborhood for over a decade and love this community. Our two boys keep us busy, and we wanted to create a space that was safe and fun for us all to be together outside. Our backyard remodel also created a place to welcome our friends and neighbors to connect. Jeff's studio is behind our house, too — so our space is also a great area for his co-writers and artists to have lunch and take breaks.

Our Outer Sanctuary in Mt. Juliet, TN

Welcome to our "Outer" sanctuary! We live in a Del Webb, 55+ Active Adult Community. When we are not playing golf, or are not involved with the many club activities and entertainment events available to us, we retreat to the serenity of our "Outer" sanctuary. It is there, on our patio, that we can rest and relax and enjoy the beautiful evenings (and mornings) while listening to the birds sing, and watching the wildlife wander through. We also enjoy entertaining our friends and neighbors on our patio. Our Outer furniture is so comfortable, extremely durable and eco-friendly. It fits perfectly under our small covered section of the patio. We've been known to fall asleep on our L shaped "sofa". Retirement is fabulous!

I have a covered porch area, outdoor patio and stone fireplace, as well as an in-ground swimming pool. It’s perfect for s’mores, karaoke, post-workout swims, and cocktail crawls as our final destination! My backyard is where we live and laugh from March to November.

We have a back deck, above our pool, with spectacular views of the Signal Mountain bluff. We always have friends and family over, so we needed a lot of seating. We created a large hangout area that’s peaceful, calming, and comfortable to accommodate our love of entertaining. Due to the mountain, we needed furniture that could withstand high winds. We use our Outer so much more because it is clean and dry. We love the space now that we have our Outer.

An Outdoorsy Couple’s Cozy, Nature-Filled Patio in Chattanooga

Our backyard is cozy and comfortable. While we’re in a residential neighborhood with neighbors on each side, our house backs up to a protected area where there are tons of tall trees and birds chirping to make it feel secluded. We love hanging on the patio in the morning when it’s still cool and shady, and late afternoon with friends and cocktails.

French-inspired Country Horse Haven in Kentucky

I am a CPA and a mom. I enjoy home DIY, reading, and traveling; and I love spending time with my horses, family, and friends! Our back deck overlooks our horse pasture and barn, and I love how our home is surrounded by the woods behind that. It’s so peaceful to watch the horses graze on our Kentucky bluegrass. Our deck really feels like an extension of our home now with the Outer sofa and rocking chairs to hang out with family and friends who visit. It’s very inviting and a great place to relax while our daughter plays outside.
