I’m the head of HR for a production company. We have an active life, a passion for interior design, and we love to travel. We love to find old things to clean up and make beautiful again! We love to host social gatherings in our backyard. I installed a sun sail shade over the seating area, and there’s a ceramic chiminea for cooler nights. We have an outdoor dining area too...our backyard is really a part of our home — basically the second living room! We are out there more than we are inside. It’s a peaceful space designed with lots of love.

Our backyard has been an ideal place to spend time with little kids. We love doing outdoor movie nights, roasting marshmallows over our fire pit, throwing parties for the kids, and entertaining friends. We keep our Teak Loveseat and Armless Chairs on the grassy area surrounding the fire pit. We spend so much time out there as a family.

I’m an urban designer with 20 years of experience on civic and transportation projects. I enjoy home renovations (three under my belt), gardening, and going on adventures with my family. We love to ride bikes, hike, travel, and have dance parties. We love eating al fresco, and lounging and playing in our front yard. We redesigned our front yard a year ago to take advantage of the beautiful and peaceful mountain view. While a little unconventional, we spend so much time there and because of that, have gotten to know many of our neighbors and enjoyed many spur-of-the-moment play dates.

We love eating dinner in our outdoor space, relaxing on our Aluminum 6-Seat U Sectional, and harvesting veggies from our garden and oranges from our orange tree. Our dog loves sleeping in the sunshine on the turf. We have lots of wonderful flowers and enjoy watching the "urban wildlife" that hangs out in our yard with us including squirrels, birds, butterflies, hummingbirds, a flock of wild parrots and even a resident hawk!

I hail from the Midwest while my husband, John, is originally a New Yorker. He’s charismatic, fun, and hard-working. Our outdoor space is truly an extension of our home. We have a full kitchen (sink, stove, and grill), two seating areas, three dining areas, and a floating sunbathing deck. It’s ideal for lots of intimate entertaining — and a big reason we chose this home. It’s a great location and has a spacious backyard. Plus, the pool is a unique shape and gives the home a mid-century valley feel to it. I love that our backyard feels like its own house outside. Someone can listen to music in one corner while I’m cooking. The kids can play chess while other guests lounge by the fire pit. It’s truly versatile and motivates us to spend a good part of our lives outside.

Woodsy Backyard near Los Angeles
I have worked in the health and management business for over 15 years and shifted into a life and wellness coach. My husband is in the advertising and marketing field. With the pandemic, we decided to create a living space in our backyard as an extension of our home. We love to entertain with friends or just enjoy our new outdoor living space with our kids. What makes our outdoor space so special is the beautiful Ipe deck that surrounds our lush Camphor and Pepper tree. It creates the most intimate and magical feeling when you’re sitting out on the couch, with the dappling of light coming through and illuminating our space. Both my husband and I grew up on the east coast, and we love bringing that woodsy feeling to our Southern California backyard. We love entertaining on our deck, hanging in the hot tub, or sitting around the fire with friends and kids. Our Outer furniture has created the most inviting and comfortable space for entertaining— we absolutely love it!

Nature-Filled Patio in Torrance, CA
I’m retired and spend my days raising milkweed for the monarch butterflies, spending time with family and friends and all of their fur babies. I love to volunteer and lead a Girl Scout troop (60 girls!). We just remodeled the outdoor space and I love it, especially with our new Outer Sofa. We added in new landscaping, tiled floor, and several plants. Thanks to my new Outer and the ambiance, this is the first time my dogs and I can take a nap outside and completely sink into the most comfortable sofa ever.

I am a wife and mother of three boys and two young dogs.
