Tribeca Rooftop with Skyline Views
I’m a former architect, recovering financier, active philanthropist, and am working on opening a new museum in New York City. I live here with my wife, our two children, and our nanny. We love spending time outside whenever we can, and our rooftop is the perfect place for morning coffee and the paper, family dinners, entertaining, or quiet sunset drinks after a long day. We are very fortunate to have a rooftop in the center of historic Tribeca, with 360 degree views of NYC — including One World Trade, the Chrysler Building, the Brooklyn Bridge, and both rivers, all from the same spot! We’re surrounded by architectural landmarks from the past and present; it's a unique sanctuary to relax and appreciate the grandeur of the city. On the roof, we are visited by helicopters and peregrine falcons, and enjoy the daily symphony of neighborhood fire engines, bumblebees, and opera singers.

A Patio with Views of the Brooklyn Bridge
Our outdoor space is special because of the view. We look out onto the base of the Brooklyn Bridge. We sit outside on our Brown Wicker sectional and Armchairs with our kids and make s’mores on the fire pit. We also host BBQs and cocktail parties with our friends and family.

Backyard Living Room for All Seasons in Jersey City
We designed our home to allow for indoor/outdoor flow, so our outdoor space is an extension of our kitchen and living room. We set it up so our dogs could enjoy the yard (their favorite spot in the house) while we hang out on the sofa with a glass of wine in the evening, but we also have space to entertain. The covered space under the deck allows us to enjoy some extra shade on hot days and utilize the space in the colder months.

Private Penthouse Terrace near Gramercy Park, Manhattan
I'm a midwest native who's called New York home for the better part of the past decade. I'm also someone who knows how rare it is to have private outdoor space attached to a Manhattan apartment. So I knew I wanted to spend time to turn it into a mini oasis. I have the aluminum Outer Charcoal Aluminum Loveseat and two Armless Chairs (that combination can be reconfigured into a section couch or daybed, as well).

Expansive Terrace in New York, NY
I just moved into my new apartment in Manhattan with my husband. We have lived in the neighborhood for 13 years and just upgraded to a space with some nice outdoor areas. We spent some time researching different outdoor furniture and settled in the Outer Charcoal Aluminum 4-Seat Sofa and Armless Chairs. Our outdoor space is large, bare, and rectangular so we wanted something relatively substantial. We love the size and the comfort and how it looks on our terrace. We have been spending a ton of time relaxing on the sofa during weekend, and plan to continue enjoying it all winter. We love our space and our sofa and view it as our little sanctuary in the city!

A Townhouse’s Multi-Level Outdoors in Jersey City
I split my time between Jersey City and a cabin in the Catskills. My German Shepherd is often by my side hiking or in the park. My Jersey City townhouse has a large upper level deck, lower level patio, and then a backyard that’s accessible from inside or outside the house. For this area, it’s a very large outdoor space with a zen feel — thanks to two walls of bamboo and my Aluminum Loveseat and Armchairs. The large upper level deck is fairly private by city standards, and the separate lower level is loved by families as it offers a separate play area for kids.

A Writer/Photographer’s Brooklyn Rooftop Meadow
I have a one hundred-square-foot rooftop in Brooklyn, and designing a rooftop meadow was my summer project. I wanted it to feel warm and comfortable, and also to last in the harsh NY weather. I love that Outer makes it so easy to keep the cushions outside (I have a Teak Loveseat and Armchairs) and flop down at any time, whether it’s morning coffee with the bees and wildflowers or watching the sun set over the city.

A Spacious Brooklyn Balcony with Manhattan Views
I’m a dog mom and nature lover living in Brooklyn, and working at the United Nations in New York. My outdoor space is a 6x16-foot balcony with an epic view of the Manhattan skyline. I love to socialize and have friends over out here. My Aluminum L-Sectional, was a hit for 4th of July when we could all watch the fireworks. It’s the perfect space for lounging with friends, reading a good book, snuggling with my dog, or taking a midday nap.

An NYC Rooftop for Gathering and Relaxation
We love how the rooftop has a lounge area and dining seating space to host potlucks, cookouts, outdoor meetings for our church community— even a couple book launch parties for our friends. The umbrellas provide shade during sunny days, but the evenings are so nice with our warm outdoor lighting. Having a comfortable outdoor space, now equipped with the Wicker Sofa and Armless Chairs, for our building has been invaluable during these post-pandemic times.
