An Actor’s Outdoor Living Room in Sherman Oaks, CA

My family lives in a relatively small home and we needed space, but I hated the idea of overbuilding on our lot. As my parents wanted to visit and spend more time with our kids we needed a way to expand our home to accommodate friends and family. We maximized our outdoor space with a large roofed section, commercial heaters, misters, and a roof and pergola that cover a built-in outdoor kitchen. It’s all the added living space we needed! Plus, we added a decked-in hot tub and rustic outdoor shower. But everything in the backyard centers around our homemade fire bowl and our prolific lemon tree. When life gives you lemons!

I'm originally from the Detroit area. I moved to LA in '95 to pursue an acting career and have worked as an actor for 30 years. I also work as a design consultant for multi-unit apartment investors and residential home owners. My family loves the outdoors, and this summer will be our third year rafting the Salmon River in Idaho.
