A Contemporary Poolside Deck Near Chicago

I’ve always loved my outdoor space because of the pool. I’m outside most of the summer and love entertaining outdoors. This is the first summer (in 21 years!) that I’ve had furniture like Outer to lounge in, previously it was only a table and chairs. I decided to make my deck more of an adult space. My Outer and the new fire pit table give the space a new dimension, making it cozy and comfortable. My outdoor area now matches the look and feel of my house indoors, and really suits my lifestyle. I wanted my deck to not only be a sanctuary for myself, but also one that others could enjoy.

I was a special ed teacher for 30 years, specializing in teaching reading for those with learning disabilities. I also managed a literacy grant for a university for nine years. I love to travel and have done a lot of it. I’m looking forward to doing it again someday. My hobbies are travel, reading, pilates, Zumba, theatre, and cooking.
