I am a stay at home mom of four young kids. We love to entertain at our house, and living in the heart of the city, people are always stopping by to say “hi” or have a drink! We have a hardscape city patio with multiple sections: a play area with basketball hoop, pool, sitting area, dining area, and an extra seating area. Our outdoor space is warm and welcoming. We have tons of plants and flowers; there is always music playing and kids and pets running around! Friends know they can always pop in, and they often do. We've taken an old, historic space and made it feel fresh and functional without sacrificing the charm. It's a really happy space.

It’s such a fun space to gather with family and friends. We are surrounded by nature — it’s great to watch the red-shouldered hawks fly overhead. And we can grill, eat outside, just chill, and listen to music on the outdoor speakers.

I work in asset management/investment banking, which can be intense and stressful at times. I enjoy being productive and value learning new skills (woodworking, home improvement, baking, etc.). I have a little pitbull rescue named Hamlet who also works as a therapy dog. On Sundays, I help a chef friend set up and run his farmer's market stand selling high-end baked goods and pastries. I really like things that are differentiated by being made well and made thoughtfully, so I love discovering brands like Outer. I live in Arlington where yard space in new development homes are rare. Though my yard is not large, it’s a great area to spend time in, on my stone patio with a cedar pergola. The recent addition of the fireplace creates a warm and inviting environment for just enjoying the space while just "being." I recently purchased a wood-burning pizza oven to be able to spend even more time out there. I also recently bought an outdoor projector and screen that I am excited to use for a summer evening movie night.

I am a lawyer and mom of two teenage boys, who had a long career in the government and am now enjoying work in the private sector. In normal times, my husband, boys, and I enjoy spending time visiting family and friends in California, especially Lake Tahoe. When not working, we usually spend our time at sports games, including my own soccer games. Our outdoor space provides us a private and green area to visit with family and friends, and we really love the opportunity to connect with our boys over the fire pit, especially if we offer them s'mores. We have a new hot tub, which creates space for conversation without the temptation of electronics. Having this outdoor area has been a lifesaver during the pandemic, allowing us to connect with friends in a way that would otherwise not have been possible.
