First and foremost, I'm a husband and father to two growing boys, which keeps me very busy! Professionally, I'm a geoscientist and dabble in business development. I'm an avid cyclist. I also play golf and tennis, coach baseball, and spend a lot of time on a rowing machine. I'm also a master woodworker and build heirloom-quality furniture. Our spacious patio, covered by a motorized pergola, is designed to be an all-season outdoor family room, and we use it like one! We dine al fresco, socialize with friends and family, or simply escape to relax outdoors. The motorized pergola protects everything from the sun and rain, and the legs of its frame gives the space some faux walls on two sides. I can control how much light to let in, and three large fans move enough air to keep it comfortable, regardless of how hot it might be outside. A large fountain creates some ambiance. Look up, and you’ll find yourself surrounded by huge trees filled with birds and squirrels. We can just sit and watch nature in action until we fall asleep in complete tranquility.

A Mid-Century Modern Courtyard in Houston

When people visit our home, they generally say that their blood pressure goes down! They’re inspired by the nature all around us, and the mid-century modern open-air feel of the space. We chose our home for its three small gardens. Our Wicker Loveseat and Armchairs are in the central garden. We spend most mornings sipping coffee and reading there, listening to the gurgling fountain, or turning on our suspended string lighting on the pergola after dusk.

Relaxing Texas Hideaway

I've been a flight attendant for 22 years, so I love to travel. We love to read, golf, play poker, and barbecue with friends and neighbors. I volunteer as often as possible with the Leading Ladies (supporting theater), Houston rodeo, Houston Food Bank, and Junior League. I'm excited to have two separate sitting areas for outdoor get togethers, dining, card games, barbecues, etc. We also love waking up with our tea and coffee and enjoying the sunshine with our dog. At night, we like to 'wine down" with the fire pit. We just tore out our wooden deck and older tile, which were piecemealed together, and made a continuous slab. We are going to stain then cover half of it, and eventually put in a fireplace at the end.

My husband is a day trader and I’m a stay-at-home mom to three young kids. We’re trying to spend time with our little ones while they still think we’re “cool!” We recently remodeled our backyard so we can spend more time outdoors. According to our 5-year-old, our backyard is the perfect spot to go camping. He says we now have sofas, a grill, refrigerator, fire pit and a lake all in one place....perfect! From my morning coffee to stargazing at night, our backyard is the perfect getaway for us. We even made huge Jenga blocks for our kids to play with! Entertainment Space for All Ages in Cypress, TX

My family and I love the outdoors and love to entertain. When we purchased our home we were sold on the backyard. The inviting pool and large outdoor kitchen and patio got us really excited about all the possibilities. With such a beautiful and large outdoor space I wanted to make sure the furniture was just as inviting as the rest of the space. I also needed something that could handle the Texas weather. Outer was the perfect solution and created just the look I wanted. We have 9 seats with our combination of Teak sectional couches, the Fire Pit Table, Eco-Friendly Rug and the Teak and Aluminum Dining Table and Director's Chairs. We went with teak because I love the natural soft look of it. We've really enjoyed the comfort and versatility of all of the furniture. Our guests always comment on it. It's great that I feel like we can have a nice meal out there but also wet kids with popsicles and hotdogs don't worry me around the furniture. Even friends with red wine are not a concern. We can have a nice entertaining space that I do not stress about when things get a little crazy. I wish I could say the same for the inside of my home.

We are absolutely in love with the resort-like backyard we’ve created. It is our happy place! We start our mornings here, and often bring work outside when the temps allow. In the evenings, we relax by the Outer Fire Pit Table. Many nights end with us curling up around the fire enjoying the ambiance and a nightcap. All-in-all, it’s a versatile space that motivates us to spend a good part of our lives outside. Whether it’s grilling on the Fire Pit Table, relaxing on our Outer Wicker Sofa or swimming, playing cornhole, sipping cocktails, or relaxing in the jacuzzi—it’s truly an entertainer’s dream.
